FST Engineering (FST) is seeking a full time Sr. Electrical Engineer position preferably located in Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and/or Indiana. Potential employee will be expected to work remotely. FST Engineering (FST) provides customer focused professional engineering design services to the electrical power industry. Our company was created by three partners in 2021 and has almost doubled its bench strength to satisfy our customer needs. FST provides power substation designs for 15kV – 345kV brownfield and greenfield substations and power distribution design for power infrastructures. FST team has upgraded several existing substations with new modern equipment utilizing the available real estate and design constraints. Our Team is providing proven substation design solutions to fast-track construction while minimizing contractor requests for information.
Duties:
Sr. Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Performing engineering design services including but not limited to substation design including developing layout drawings, protection and control drawings, coordination with local utility company and other disciplines, interconnection drawings, above and below grade design, physical design, bill of material, and specification for the electrical equipment
- Proficient with power system relaying, programming, and their applications
- Proficient with performing and reviewing power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, ground grid, lightning protection, insulation coordination, harmonics mitigation and capacitor bank sizing studies
- Performing engineering design during construction activities including but not limited to review/comments on vendor drawings, performing factory acceptance testing, responding to request for information, and commissioning
- Mentoring junior engineers and developing/conducting training for team
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are desired:
- Minimum of 10+ years of relevant power industry experience
- Bachelor of Science or Higher Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Working knowledge of National Electric Safety Code, IEEE/ANSI, and other standards
- Professional Engineer License (PE)
- Skilled with organizing and time managing objectives from a remote location

Duties:
Entry Level Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the following duties under the guidance of the Sr. Engineers:
- Performing engineering design services including but not limited to developing layout drawings, protection and control drawings, coordination with local utility company and other disciplines, interconnection drawings, above and below grade design, physical design, bill of material, and specification for the electrical equipment
- Performing power system relaying, programming, and their applications
- Performing power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, ground grid, lightning protection, insulation coordination, harmonics mitigation and capacitor bank sizing studies
- Performing hand calculations and developing complex engineering concepts
- Presenting engineering topics to the engineering groups
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are desired:
- 0-5 years of relevant power industry experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Willing to learn National Electric Safety Code, IEEE/ANSI, and other standards
- Willing to obtain Professional Engineer License (PE)
- Skilled with organizing and time managing objectives from a remote location

Electrical Drafter will be responsible for the following:
- Developing engineering drawings utilizing Computer Aided Drafting (AutoCAD) or other drafting softwares
- Ability to understand physical layout drawings, one-line and three-lines drawings, electrical schematics, electrical equipment, and code requirements
- Working closely with electrical designers and engineers daily to take drawings from conceptual to detailed packages
- Willing to be trained on 3D drafting softwares and receive training from electrical designer
- Assist during field walkdowns to capture the site conditions and other information
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are desired:
- 2 – 5 years of relevant power industry experience
- Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting (AutoCAD)
- Working knowledge of electrical drafting
- Skill with organizing and time managing objectives from a remote location
